Bug your grocer for happier animals!
I want to buy milk, eggs and meat from animals which are kept in organic and free range conditions! For animals to be kept in better conditions, it must pay - because money rules the world. And it will pay for companies to treat animals well, if the demand for products from happy animals rises.
The idea for this spread: Show, through your support, on the map that you are prepared to buy products from organically and free range farmed animals. Keep repeatedly asking your local stores for these products. Keep asking and look out for alternative shops that offer these products and go buy them there.
When the producers and retailers of milk eggs and meat see the thousands of supporters in their local area on the spread map, they will see how big the demand in their market is and what economic potential there is. This will help them pluck up the courage to make the change. This will be true for the farmers, grocers, your favourite Italian restaurant and even for the local kebab van that may spot a market niche.
There are of course already ways to buy organic and free range products, but the matter is complex and bio and organic certificates vary and do not necessarily mean that animals are kept in a humane way.
But maybe together we can find ways to help and motivate each other and to start spreading knowledge about the differences in certifications.

No more grilled chickens

The most consequent response to the dreadful circumstances in which mass farmed animals are held would be to become vegetarian. In my youth I lived vegetarian for four years but had to learn that this did not work out for me in the long term. My flesh was obviously too weak and my taste buds enjoy the familiar and often convenient foods. I think that this is true for many. If you, like me, can not yet live vegetarian, buying meat from organically and free range farmed animals is an alternative to ignorance. Because, for me, it is only possible through ignorance to continue my normal consumption of products which stem from creatures that had such a wretched existence.
In order to stop closing my eyes to this, I have started this spread with some pictures and videos showing how mass farmed animals are kept. I want to find out about alternative sources. I want to point out that I am willing to eat less meat and to pay more for meat from as long as it is from animals which are kept in a dignified manner.
