What is a Spread?
Last year, as the greater part of the world were shouting „free Tibet“, we wished, retrospectively, that the spreadyo-platform had been in existence. Because this call would have been an ideal Spread (and still is). An idea, which found many supporters and, in the first instance, was spread by the usual media channels. How would the Chinese government have reacted if they had been confronted by a Spread that had hundreds of thousands or even millions of supporters?
Spreads can be the expression of prevalent feelings that people may have concerning an important topic. They can, however, also constitute ideas that call for slight changes to one's daily behaviour, e.g. save energy by buying a multiplug extension cord with a switch to save the standby current by switching it off overnight.
And last but not least, one can, through spreads, find those people that are enthusiastic about the things that one is passionate about and who could share one’s hobbys and passion for something. Being connected to these people and being able to locate them on a map and to exchange ideas with them provides a strong communal feeling.
This results in our three Spread-types:
The spreadshout – a new version of the on-line petition that allows you to express more clearly that you are prepared to take a stand concerning a specific topic. This way others can be made aware of your stand and join you in emphasising your wish to change something.
The spreadaction – a new opportunity to make a personal contribution knowing that many others will accompany you along this road. Maybe all together we can make a noticeable difference in the world.
The spreaddiscovery – a new internet contact-point where one can find „mindbuddies“ - people who tick as you do and enjoy the same things whilst sharing the same worries.
