Frequently asked Questions

To avoid problems with anybody who may own copyright and/or the intellectual property rights to specific contents, you should be careful to ensure that you have checked the following points before submitting your content. If you can answer all questions with „yes“ there should be no problems:

- Did I take the submitted photos myself or, if not, do I have the creators permission to publication?
- Did I make the embedded videos myself or, if not, do I have the creators permission to publication?
- Do I have the permission from other recognizable persons on or in the photos and videos so that I do not contravene their personal rights by publication?
- Did I not use a false name at registration, one that could belong to another person (especially well-known people).
- Are my text contributions void of words originating from brand-names?
- Are my text contributions void of accusations against third persons that cannot be proven and may contravene their personal rights?
- Are my text contributions void of personal information of third parties that would contravene their right to privacy?
- Are my text contributions my own work and not copied elsewhere?
- Did I mention the name of the author at the end of the relevant text when quoting third parties?

The following videos or images even if they are taken from other portals such as Youtube, Clipfish, my video are most probably copyrighted:

- all types of extracts from TV and other broadcast media
- Images and videos of artists (e.g. musicians)

There are various ways and means of obtaining legal videos and images:
- Look for photos on one of the larger photo portals, e.g. Flickr. In doing so look for images that belong to the Creative Commons License.
This option is to be found by flickr under advanced search. Pictures from this category have the authors consent for publication also on other sites. However, you should remember to reference your source or the author's name.
- With videos it is not as simple. You can, however, pay attention to who submitted the video to, for instance, on youtube and what it is showing. If it was submitted by companies, organisations or by the artist themselves you can presume that they would agree to distribution. An enquiry at the source would clear any doubt.
- If it is not clear whether the author of the item is agreeable to distribution, you could send your enquiry per e-mail requesting permission to use the item. This may cost more time but lets us and you sleep peacefully.
- If you wish to embed text from other sources, it is important to consider the Rules of Citation. In the first instance this means acknowledging the source
